It's Not a Diet....It's a Life-Style Change

I have realized over the past few weeks that I am a sugar/junk food addict.  At work, there are donuts and kolaches and breakfast tacos and all sorts of junk food that I don't need to be eating all the time, yet it is SO HARD for me to say no to them!

A little background info about me...I've always had body image issues.  Never felt comfortable in a swim suit...always checking myself in the mirror to see whether I look skinny or fat that day...etc.  You girls know how it is.  Well, the last semester of my college career, I began going to the gym every day for an hour of cardio - either the elliptical, or the exercise classes they had there - and I lost about 20 lbs!  (Almost, but not quite back down to high-school size.)

I feel a lot better about myself now, but I'm still insecure sometimes if I feel like I'm gaining weight again.  And even though I still exercise regularly (3-4 times a week), I feel like I don't spend enough time exercising and keeping myself healthy.  (Add this to a husband who has never been without a six-pack in his whole life and who's life revolves around sports, and you can really start to feel bad about yourself...)

So anyway, since I can not ever say no to a donut...I decided that in order to combat the issue, I will start bringing my own breakfast each morning.  (Even though, I always keep some sort of breakfast bars in my desk...) and eat healthy snacks like fruit instead of crap.

You know what they say...breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

I think I'll try some yogurt.  Yesterday at the store I bought some of the Yoplait Greek Yogurt (strawberry flavor) and some Kashi corn flake type cereal, so this morning I mixed some of the cereal in with the yogurt.  And I am happy to say that my tummy is satisfied!

There are even breakfast tacos sitting over by the printer this morning, and I said no!

So, from now on, I am saying BYE BYE DONUTS! I DON'T NEED YOU!

  1. That is so my work too - always junk food I need to avoid that sits right by my desk! And I have a wonderful husband who also just happens to be one of the fittest people on the planet because he runs so much (not bad, but not the healthiest eater). So now I need to jump on the elliptical instead of reading your blog!
