September???

How is it September already?  In just eleven short days, I will have been working for 5 months already!  That's almost half a year...already.

And in six days, I will have been married for 1 month!

I do have to say that although money is kind of tight right now for me and Cody, life sure is good.  We are so blessed to have the things that we do...it could definitely be worse.

Anyway, so this morning in the car I was listening to some Matthew on the way to work.  I thought I'd share a verse that I had forgotten about, but gets me every time!
Matthew 24:35-36 - "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.  No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."
Matthew 24:42-44 - "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.  But understand this: if the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.  So you must also be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him."
This is why we need to live our lives with a sense of urgency!  Something I've always struggled with is getting in the word every day.  In college, I would always find myself saying things like "I just don't have time right now...whenever I finish school and start working, I'll have more time for that."

Well guess what, I am done with school, and I still have no time!  Or at least that's the excuse that I can find myself still making.  But it's just not true.  Even if you don't have the time, you MAKE the time for God.

We were discussing this last night at Bible study...about how life is just a long journey, and people are always looking forward to that next step in life.  You know, have to finish high school so we can go to college.  Gotta finish college so we can get a good job.  Gotta get a job so we can buy food and clothes and pay off debt.  Need to pay off debt so we can get married and buy a house.  Gotta buy a house so we can have a kid...oh, and then at the same time, you have to save for retirement, and buy another car, and keep up with the fashions, and blah blah blah.

But what's the point?  Why just live life for tomorrow?  Why just live life to accumulate materialistic things?  You won't get to keep them anyway.  The truth is that whenever we die and leave the Earth, none of the things we bought or had will matter.  At all.  The only thing that will have mattered is whether or not you knew the Lord and tried to live a life like Jesus, giving God the glory.

And the only way we can live like Jesus did, is to know how he lived, and know about his character.  And the only way we can do this is to be in the word, studying how he treated the people around him on a day to day basis!

Ok, well, I could go on.  But the point is to read your Bibles!!  :)
