Happy 4th of July!

So this has been a very good weekend...

Saturday morning, I awoke at 5 AM to get ready to go down to Dallas and take some Bridal Portraits at the Arboretum with Jim and Jacki Miller.  They do some really great work and I'm so excited they are going to be taking our pictures!

For my bridal pictures, I did my own hair.  I think it turned out nice; however, it taught me a very valuable lesson:  I will NOT be doing my own hair, or letting a family member do my hair on my wedding day.  It was so stressful, and not fun trying to make your own hair look pretty.  And it took forever...

The Remington Curl Wand
First, I blew it dry with the blow drier, and then I started curling it with my Remington Curl Wand.  This is really the part that takes the longest.  But you end up with fantastic curls if you take the time to use it.  And the curls last for DAYS...I'm not kidding.
Anyway, I curled the hair to make it full and fluffy and give it some body and dimension for when I put it up into an updo.

The look I was going for...

I think that my hair turned out pretty good, I meant to take a picture before we left, but I forgot, so we will just have to wait and see what it looks like when the pictures are ready!

We also did my own make-up.  My mom bought some waterproof mascara from Cover Girl.  I've never used waterproof before, but I really liked it!  And she also bought some eye shadow and we put it on real quick.  I think it looked pretty.

The best part of taking the pictures was getting dressed in the parking lot of the Arboretum...they won't let you get ready inside without paying a lot of $$ and I was not about to ride all the way down there from Sherman with my wedding dress on in the car.  It was pretty funny though.  I had on a little skirt so I just stepped into the dress outside the car, and then I picked it up and crawled in the back seat to take off my shirt (and my bra...) so my mom could zip up the dress.

Another funny story...so we took my dress to get altered a few weeks ago because it was a little loose and I didn't want to be pulling it up all night.  So I tried the dress on with my strapless bra I bought to wear with it, and she did all the measuring and pinning to make it a little bit tighter.

Since I live in Houston now, I wasn't able to try the dress on after she did the alterations until Saturday morning.  So I'm trying it on before we leave to make sure everything looks good, and my mom goes, "Oh, Lord, it won't zip all the way!"

....uh...WHAT??  She made it too small??

I was so scared that it was not going to fit.  So we finally got it zipped, but it was creasing the skin on my back together and it wasn't very pretty.  So I suggested that I take the bra off.  Luckily, when I did that, it fit pretty nicely!  We just had to make sure no one was looking whenever I got dressed and undressed again in the back seat of my car.

All good!

Taking the pictures was a blast!  Even though it was really hot and I was sweating a lot.  Jacki said that if there is visible sweat in the pictures that they can photo-shop it out.  Thank God for technology!

Later that night, me and Cody met up with them again for our engagement pictures!  I felt like a celebrity with paparazzi following us around taking pictures.  It was so fun!  We took pictures at a couple spots in the downtown area of Denison, and then we drove out to the lake to take pictures at the Denison Dam.

I can't wait to see those Dam pictures... ;)

So that was Saturday.  On Sunday, I went to church with the fam, then Cody and his dad came over to my house for lunch.  My dad cooked a roast and we had beans and veggies and rolls with it, and for desert, there was lemon meringue pie and chocolate pie!

Later on in the day, we went to my friend Leah's wedding.  I think it's safe to say that I have known Leah my whole life.  We were best friends from 1st grade through high school.  We also have the same birthday, and apparently the same taste, because our wedding colors are the same, and our dinner menu is the same!  Great minds think alike...

Her wedding was really nice.  Her dad is the pastor at their church, so he along with Leah's new hubby's dad (who is also a pastor) were the ones to marry them.  I think it's so sweet whenever parents are the ones to marry their kids.

I was getting all choked up in my seat listening to him talk about Leah, and how they watched her grow up into the beautiful, smart woman she is today, because I was there!  Me and Leah grew up together, and now we are adults, getting married with real jobs and supporting ourselves.

I just can't believe that we are so grown up all of a sudden!  I'm getting teary-eyed just thinking about it.

Anyway, here are some pictures I snapped on my phone of her wedding!
