Why?

Why do people buy brand new cars instead of going with a used one?  Well, there could be many reasons.  It could be because you want to have some sort of status symbol that tells people you have a lot of money.  It could be that you are the moron who goes out immediately after finishing school and buy the shiny new sports car that your fancy new high paying job will more than pay for (until you realize the economy sucks and you can't find a job as soon as  you would like).  

Or, it could be because you are sick and tired of having used things that are unreliable, and you can finally afford a sensible car with no prior damage that will be easy to maintain because it's brand new and in mint condition.  

I did not put down $8500 to buy a brand new 2012 Honda Civic to get rear-ended after only a week of driving it.  Which is what happened to me today.  

I haven't even made one payment on it, and it has now been in a wreck.  I was literally driving home from the dealership where they just put on my new license plates when it happened.
