Waiting for Towels to Dry...

So lately, I've been reading 1 & 2 Corinthians each morning when I wake up (well, most mornings).  Has anyone ever gone through a period where they read God's word, and it's like in one ear and out the other?  I feel like thats how it's been for me lately.  I can't really remember what Corinthians is about.

I know it's Paul writing to the Corinthian church about their daily struggles to live out the Christian faith, but I don't remember details.

There was one verse that stuck out to me:  1 Corinthians: 7:29-31.  These verses discuss the fact that time is short, and nothing on the Earth is permanent.  Verse 30 says "those who buy something should live as if it were not theirs to keep."  The last part of the verse says "For this world, in it's present form is passing away."

Isn't God good?  He is constantly reminding me that I don't really own anything in this world.  No matter how many brand new 2012 Honda Civics I buy, or new Iphones, or clothes - I should be keeping in mind whenever I use them that God has simply given them to me to use to bring him glory.

In other news, this morning I jumped on the scale and was happily surprised at the number!  I'm hoping that it was not a fluke...sometimes the scale will say one thing but it doesn't really mean it.  But I have been exercising like crazy the past few weeks!

And tonight, after I got home from the gym, I was motivated and finally cleaned my room!  Well, sort of...I am trying to get rid of my dirty clothes piles right now.  But I picked up a bunch of trash and semi organized my desk, so I feel like I accomplished something.

  1. You don't need to be weighing yourself. You look great! After all, it is just a number. How do you feel? That is more important.

  3. i was looking for some verses in the bible yesterday about giving God praise for the amazing things he does and I came across this one which is my new favorite verse...
Psalm 16:2 "I said to the Lord, 'You are my Lord; apart from you i have no good thing'"

That is what I try and think of about everything I own in my life...nothing in my life is good without God because He is greatest!

Keep up the hard work! I bet you will read much better in the morning now that your room is a bit cleaner!

  4. Yeah, there are tons of good verses on that subject.

Especially in Psalms. You should keep reading through Psalms for some really good praise verses!
