Welcome to Houston.

I can already tell I'm going to like it here...humidity, traffic, low gas mileage...yay!

I filled up my gas tank when I first got here last Saturday.  I've only driven about 100 miles or so, and I've already used up half of my gas tank.  I don't think that's very good.  Granted, I've been driving around a lot trying to figure out where things are.

And one more thing about my car...the air conditioner does not blow cold air.  In Houston, this is just plain not good.  Everywhere I go, I end up getting really sweaty just on the car ride!  Like last night, I went to a Zumba class and I was already sweating before I even walked in the door!  And it's only going to get worse as we get into summer.

I think the bottom line is that I need a new car.

Moving right along to my goals for this first week here in Houston (before I started working).  They were as follows:

1.  Take a drug test for work
2.  Familiarize myself with the city
3.  Join a gym
4.  Find a bank
5.  Shop for some new work clothes
6.  Meet some of my co-workers
7.  Begin the house/duplex/apartment search for me and Cody

I think I have managed to get to all of these things at some point during the week except for #4 and #7.  And as for #2, I know how to drive up and down Westheimer and successfully get back to my apartment.

I just got back from my first personal training session at the gym (I got talked into spending a lot of $$ for a few training sessions to teach me how to work out).  I never knew I could sweat so much by just doing squats, lunges, and chest presses!  It was definitely a workout.

Hopefully, I'll be able to keep it up on the toning machines until August for the big day!  I want to look fab not flab in my wedding pictures.

Speaking of the wedding, I am missing Cody already.  I can't wait to know what it feels like to know that we never have to be separated for months again.  EVER.  I don't like being on my own.  Even though I have a roommate and a few friends here, I'm still by myself a lot.  Hopefully, I'll be a little bit more entertained and be able to keep myself busier next week when I FINALLY start my job.

Anyway, enough about my insecurities and loneliness.  This morning I took 4 pairs of pants and 1 skirt to get altered!  I hope that they turn out good, and finally fit right.  All of them were too big, so I am getting them taken in.  I found a lady to do it that only charged me $10 a pair!  Earlier this week, I also bought 2 new pairs of pants, 1 shirt, and 5 dresses (I might end up returning one of the dresses though...).  And in all I only spent about...$200.  I bought everything on sale, and that total includes all of the alterations on my old stuff.  So if you think about it, I really spent $200 for 6 pairs of pants, 1 shirt, 5 dresses, and 1 skirt.  Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention the new cardigan I bought from New York & Co. (my FAVORITE store).

So in total, 14 items for $200 = $15 per item.  Not bad.  I love bargain shopping.

The only thing I forgot to think about was new shoes...but I think that I can hold off on that for a little while (at least until I get my first paycheck)!  :D

I could also use some new work shirts...

OH!!!!!!  I forgot the BEST part about this week.

Cody and I booked a honeymoon to ST. LUCIA!  I think it is going to be really sweet!  This trip is actually one of the reasons I decided to do the personal training sessions so that I can tone up and look hot in a swim suit (for once).
