This is the Plaza Mayor. I think this is where they filmed the movie that came out recently called "Vantage Point."
Another Plaza Mayor picture.
This is in the Puerta del Sol which means Gateway of the Sun (or door to the sun). I'm pointing to the plaque that says that I'm standing on the geographic center of Spain! Pretty cool huh?
This is the symbol of Madrid, a bear eating from an olive tree. It's also in the Puerta del Sol.
TOLEDO:
This picture was taken on one of the bridges across the river of Toledo. I just think it's beautiful!
This is my friend Claire looking out over the bridge. Notice the little drain pipe at the bottom of the picture?? I guess I am an engineer after all.
This is another view from the bridge of some of the old city. You can kind of see one of the city walls. Toledo actually has three city walls because long ago, it started out as a small city and began to expand so they had to keep adding on and building more walls to keep the enemy out.
One more view from the bridge of another bridge and a little waterfall.
These next few are just pictures of the streets of Toledo. They are so small (narrow) and there are a lot of cars that drive on them. Every time we're walking and a car comes by we have to lay flat against the walls so we don't get run over!
In this picture you can see the banner that was hung along some of the streets for a big religious festival they had. The streets were beautiful because they set all kinds of flowers and decorations on all the windows and doors.
This is one of the worst hills that I saw so far. There have been others just as bad as this one if not worse. I can't believe that people walk up these hills every day!
Another narrow street, although I don't think that any cars can fit in this one.
I think that this street is one that people used to go to to kiss and hold hands (like boyfriend and girlfriends) when there was a king that didn't like PDA very much and if you were seen showing affection in public, you would get thrown in jail. This is the narrowest street in Toledo and it was somewhat covered so people could go there without being seen!
Thats it for now...I have some more pictures still but I'm going to make yall wait until I get home to see them!!
