Din Din! |
I do not cook for myself. I am usually lucky if I make it to the grocery store once a month, so the fact that we’ve been to the store twice this week and spent about $160 on food is a lot for me to handle. However, one of the things that I have most been looking forward to about being married and finally living with Cody is getting to cook good food together! (It’s about time I kick my unhealthy eating habits…) Plus, we were fortunate enough to get a lot of sweet cooking supplies as wedding gifts, so we have been testing them out all week.
One of the things that we got that I’m sure we will be using for many many years to come is a waffle iron! On Sunday morning before church, we made waffles.
One word: YUM.
I love me some waffles! And I probably never would have made them if I was still living by myself.
My maid of honor’s dad bought us a Quesadilla maker! So after church, we had some quesadillas for lunch. We topped this meal off with some chips and salsa, which is actually a pretty healthy snack (unless you eat too many chips).
Probably our favorite meal we’ve cooked so far was our dinner we had last night. One of Cody’s mom’s friends gave us a Wok set. So we cooked up a little stir fry! All the ingredients cost us about 10 bucks at HEB. We modeled the fry after Panda Express Mongolian beef dish. So it had onion, bell pepper, broccoli, carrot, chives, cabbage, green beans, and strips of steak, all cooked in the Panda Express Orange Sauce.
And for desert, rice crispy treats! :-D

As a side note, I will get around to posting some more pictures from the wedding/honeymoon soon hopefully. We have ordered cable/internet from AT&T, but apparently, they are so backed up on people requesting the service technicians that they can’t make it out to install our cable and internet until September 8th!
So until then, I am going to try to write some posts at home on my computer and then hopefully try to post some of them at work the next day. But it’s kind of hard to do pictures and stuff at work, so those may have to wait!
I am also thinking about tying to train for a half marathon. My plan is to start jogging two days a week and then go to the gym the other days. I think running will be a good activity for me and Cody to do together since he loves to exercise. And I do want to spend as much time together as we can make time for, so the fact that we can be outside and doing something active is all the more reason for me to do it, right?
