The living room/kitchen area
I have to say the car ride was really hot. The air conditioning in my car isn't the greatest, and it also didn't help that I decided to wear jeans instead of shorts. But we finally made it to my new apartment and got all moved in with the help of our friends Mat and Rachel. I worked out a really sweet deal with a girl that I went to school with and she is letting me live in her newly renovated condo which is literally 3 minutes away from my work.
Here's my new room!

Another shot of my room.
So anyway, I have officially been on my own here for a couple hours now. My parents and Cody left a little bit after lunchtime to go home. I always get sad right whenever I get left alone in a new place. I can still remember the first time I was by myself when I started college. It's that feeling of, 'oh man, what am I supposed to do now?'
Well, I was behind in some of my Bible reading, so I decided to catch up. I started Romans today (the first three chapters). I think it's going to be a good book to read through - lots of wisdom. I finally pulled my study bibles out of storage the other day, so I was able to start out with some background information on the book.
Romans was written by Paul around AD 57. He wrote it to the believers in Rome as an introduction about himself and his message for the Christians to read before he arrived in Rome. Most people think that he wrote this book from Corinth.
From the first chapter, we can see that Paul clearly had always wanted to travel to Rome to meet all of the Romans, but until now, had not had the opportunity to do so. But he starts out by telling them about God's wrath for those who know him and still choose to disobey him. One of my favorite verses is in this chapter.
Romans 1:20 "For since the creation of the world, God's invisible qualities - his eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse."
This verse means that we have no excuse not to believe in God when we see his creation in nature around us!
I also came across another verse as I was reading that I hadn't read before. It's about judgment and those typical hypocritical Christians that we are always hearing about...
Romans 2:1 "You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment onto someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things."
Think about that one for a few minutes...
